Andy has had a number of poems published over the years in several paperback anthologies and magazines. He recently had a poem published in the English language journal on Madeira. Some of the earliest of these poems were penned in Ledbuiry while he was at the Grammarc School there, hence the picture above.
Although he has written a number of poems in free verse forms, he has a particular interest in the traditional forms such as the very strict Villanelle and Sonnet. He treats the creation of poetry less as a stream of consciousness, more as a delicate and skilled craft which lends itself well to these very strict poetic forms.

The poems here span a wide range of styles, but Andy has always had a fascination for the "strict forms" of poetry - sonnets and villanells for example. He enjoys the challenge of crafting such poems around an idea, rather than simply relating the idea without any foundation.
